Delete files

When you delete files, Worldox also deletes the associated profile information (profile group, profile fields, comments, et al.) and any other versions of those files. Worldox offers a file deletion option in the File > Delete dialog, which may be available to you depending on your user rights and the prevailing settings at your site.

Tip:  If you delete a file in error, the Salvage bin may prove helpful. Depending on your user rights, you may be able to restore deleted files. Even if you cannot, your Worldox Administrator can, assuming the Salvage option is turned on for the relevant profile groups..

To delete files:

  1. Use the left-side navigation panel, search or other tools to find the worklist you need.

  2. Highlight (select) the file(s) you want to delete.

Note:  You can delete multiple files at once. If you select more than one, Worldox asks you to confirm your selection, in the Clarify Selection dialog. If you see this dialog, choose the appropriate option and click Continue.

  1. With file(s) highlighted, select Delete from the File pull-down menu. You could also click Delete in the toolbar, or right-click with the file highlighted and select Delete from the right-click menu. That opens the File > Delete dialog. Or, if you happen to be working with a Salvage bin worklist, you see the File > Delete - Salvage dialog instead.

In the File > Delete dialog:

  1. Choose the delete method:

If the Salvage bin is enabled then you see a Move to Salvage Bin choice. Select this to retain the option of restoring deleted files, as you have with the Recycle bin in Windows.

Note:  If you are deleting files from a Salvage bin list, in the File > Delete - Salvage dialog, the Move to Salvage Bin option is not available. Deletions here are final.

Select the standard Delete option to remove the file and its profile information.

If the Shred option is enabled at your site, then a Shred (Unrecoverable) option appears here. Select this option to delete files securely, without the possibility of their subsequent recovery.

  1. Click OK to go ahead and delete files. Then click OK to acknowledge the confirmation message.
