Views is a new term in Worldox, used to describe a GX2 enhancement in Find Files search templates.
A special syntax is used to specify search criteria for views, allowing them to use variables for searching based on context (document, profile group or bookmarked location selected). The power of this new feature is leveraged by another enhancement - the way available views list automatically in the left-side My Workspaces navigation panel zone for "subscribed" profile group links and bookmarks.
A view starts as a new Find Files template. The difference lies in how search criteria are specified. Views are created using special variable instructions - field names contained in angle (<>) brackets. Here's an example, showing how variables are specified:

• Here the instructions target variable Client and Matter fields, combined with a specific doc type (agreement) and recent date range (modified in the last 90 days.)
• When accessed from My Workspaces, this view will find any agreement modified in the last 90 days, profiled with any Client/Matter combination found in the bookmarked folder or profile group location.
• If you access the view outside of My Workspaces (via the Search pull-down menu or Search Templates dialog), the view finds documents with whatever Client/Matter combination are present on the document selected as the view is selected, assuming other criteria are also satisfied.
Views are typically configured so that selecting the view listing runs the search immediately. That setting is optional, but makes views much easier to use. It's done as you save the new template, in the Save Find Template dialog.
In GX2, Worldox automatically recognizes templates using these variables, and displays such templates automatically under subscribed, My Workspaces bookmarks and profile group links. Here are views listed for one subscribed profile group folder:

Views are available anywhere in Worldox, via the Search Templates list.
A view can be used to search any profile group location or document set. Referring back to the Agreements view shown above, if you accessed that view on a list where those fields were represented in document profiles - and values appeared for those fields - you would see results. Otherwise, no results would be found.
Views can be called anything you like. We refer to them as views because that is the purpose they serve and how they feel.
Note: This particular type of variable instruction was possible in the first version of GX. It's the automatic path tree access which is new. As long as views are created for profile groups which have been defined as "Project Folders", they automatically appear under subscribed bookmarks to those profile groups.
