Just as with the desktop Worldox, Worldox on the iPad iPhone has a powerful set of search tools to help you quickly locate documents.
Search templates offer the ability to precisely target and customize searches in Worldox.
Note: You cannot save and manage searches on the iPad iPhone, as is possible on the desktop version of Worldox. If you have questions about search tools - or need custom search forms not yet available on the iPadiPhone- please contact your Worldox Administrator.
Search can be quick and simple or advanced, combining full-text searching, date ranges, profile fields, and more. Searches often begin with choosing a search template (form) in the Find templates list. There is also a <My Last Search> listing, which is whatever search form was last used in searching during the current session, with all settings as they were when that search was run.
Note: If you do not see the Search Templates list, that means this feature is not available at your site.
Two types of searches
How a particular search form works depends on how it was originally set up. As you (or Worldox Administrators) create and save Find Files search forms in the desktop Worldox, an On Selection setting offers two options:
Running the pre-set search as soon as that form is selected. This type of immediate search is called a View.
Or, presenting the search form for that search when it is selected. That enables adjustments or changes to search settings before the search is run.
Depending on how Worldox is set up at your site, both types of searches may be available to you on the iPad iPhone. You can tell which search is which by the small icons to the left of listings in the Search Templates list:
A binoculars icon with an
arrow indicates view.
Tapping a listing with this icon runs that search immediately; you go
directly to the list of found results, if any.
A binoculars with arrow
icon indicates form. Tapping a listing
with this icon opens the search form in the left-side List
pane or window, where you can customize the search, then run it by selecting
Search on the upper right corner
of the screen.
You can access search templates by touching the Find option on the Worldox for iPad main screen Worldox for iPhone Main Screen.
Note: For details about other useful search methods you can use, see Worldox Search Tips.
In the Worldox for iPad iPhone main screen, select Find.
In the Find list, tap a search listing.
• If your selection is set up to run immediately upon selection, then search results (or a "no items found" message) display.
• Otherwise, the search form itself appears.
Customize the search as needed. In the following example, the Excel Files search template is selected.
After the search template is selected, the form appears. In the following example, "price" is entered in the document Description field as search criteria. After entering criteria in any of the fields, select Search on the upper right side of the screen.
Text or code input fields are displayed in black. Tap a text or code field to activate the cursor in that field and open the keyboard.
Profile field labels are displayed in blue. Tap any profile field to open the associated field table, where you can select or enter specific codes and values.
Note: See Working with fields for tips on how to enter or select values in different types of Worldox fields on the iPadiPhone.
The following sample screen shows results.
Note: If no results match your criteria, a "No Records Found" message appears..
