Set or change preferences

Preferences are customized settings used by Worldox to control how various program features appear and operate. Some preferences can be viewed and changed by Worldox Administrators and Managers only; many other preferences are optional settings you control.

Tip:  Spell-checking options are separate from other preferences in Worldox; these can be viewed/changed in the Spelling Options dialog.

To view current preference settings:

  1. Select Preferences > Worldox from the Edit pull-down menu. That opens the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog, where preferences are organized into categories.

In the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog:

  1. If two tabs appear at the top of the dialog, select Everyone to view global preferences (set for all users at your site), or Only me to see only your personal preferences, those you have set.

Note: This choice may not be available to you. Only Worldox Managers have access to the Everyone tab.

  1. Click a category in the left-side pane to open preferences for that category in the right-side pane.

  2. Note the two columns furthest to the right - Value and Default. Default lists the starting preference settings. Value shows the current value.

Note:  It's quite possible to see the same value - Yes, for example - in both the Value and Default columns. That can happen depending on how choices are made in Change Value dialogs, used to set preferences.

TIP:  Here is a quick guide on preferences - scenarios illustrating why you might want to customize preferences and how to do it.

To change preference settings:

  1. Select Preferences > Worldox from the Edit pull-down menu. That opens the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog, where preferences are organized into categories.

In the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog:

  1. If two tabs appear at the top of the dialog, select Everyone to see global preferences (set for all users at your site), or Only me to see only your personal preferences, those you have set.

  1. Click a category in the left-side pane to open preferences for that category in the right-side pane. (Here are descriptions of what those preferences control.)

  2. When you find the preference you want to change, double-click that listing to open the Change Value dialog.

In the Change Value dialog:

  1. Set or reset the preference.

Most preferences are Yes/No choices:

•       Select Yes or No as appropriate.

•       Or, if you remember the default value and want to reset the preference to that default, select Rely on Default Setting.

•       Other preferences can be numbers or other values. Enter the choice you want, or select it from the drop-down field.

  1. Click to make the change.

Changed preferences typically take effect immediately, as soon as the Change Value dialog closes. If you do not see the expected changes, select About Worldox from the Help pull-down menu. When the About dialog appears, press CTRL + D. Then click on the Debug dialog. That reloads Worldox configuration files.
