New in GX3: The ability to search for prior document versions

One Worldox upgrade connected with the introduction of GX3 is support for ISYS 9. Before mid-2012, all Worldox sites used the earlier, ISYS 5 version of this software  to index files. GX3 supports the current ISYS 9, so sites using GX3 have the option to use either one.

The version of ISYS used is of little concern to users, except in one way. If your site uses ISYS 9, you have an additional choice in searching.

With GX3 (using ISYS 9),  you can now search ALL document versions, not just the “master" (current) files. Of course this means you may get more search results, and may find document content no longer contained in the most current file versions.

To consider version in searching, use a new option that appears on the Search What dialog:

There is now a check box for +Prior Versions. When checked, this instructs Worldox to find any file version meeting whatever other search criteria is specified, not just the most current version.

Tip:  The Search What dialog is easily accessed from any Find Files search form. Just click Search What on the form.

Here is an example of a search results list utilizing prior versions searching. The most current files (Version 2) and the previous version have been found, since the +Prior Versions checkbox was checked on the Search What dialog.

Also, if you open a prior version, that earlier file will appear in your favorite files list as well. The icons on the versions denote master (current) or previous version.
