Customizing colors

Three types of colors can be customized in Worldox:

       Dialog text: the color of prompts used to indicate valid entries, unknown codes or errors on profile forms.

       Tabs and bars: the color of tab names and vertical/horizontal separators visible on the Worldox application screen.

       Lists: the color of text highlights and of background colors used to make worklists more readable.

These categories are represented on the Colors dialog, used to customized colors in Worldox.

  1. Select Appearance > Color from the Display pull-down menu. That opens the Colors dialog.

In the Colors dialog:

  1. Select a category for which you want to customize colors. Double-click on the listing, or single-click, then click Edit.

Next steps

Depending on what you selected, one of these dialogs appears:

       If Window Text was selected, colors are changed in the Window Text dialog. (See Option 1 below.)

       If any List item is selected, colors are changed in the Set Colors dialog. (See Option 2 below.)

       For any other items selected, colors are changed in the Adjust Color dialog. (See Option 3 below.)

OPTION 1:  In the Window Text dialog:

  1. Note your color change options.

The three choices in this dialog relate to text colors used in field prompts, as seen in profile forms and related dialogs. Here is an example, showing valid text prompts in the Edit Profile dialog.

  1. Select the text color to change, by clicking one of the left-side Change buttons. That opens the Color dialog.

  2. In the Color dialog, select a new color or modify the current setting as needed, then click OK.

  3. Review the color change.

Back in the Window Text dialog, the example text color changes as you just specified.

       To save this change, click OK.

       Or, to restore the default color setting, click the Restore button on that line.

  1. Back in the Colors dialog, click Close to close.

OPTION 2:  In the Set Colors dialog:

  1. Determine who will see this changed color (optional).      

Note:  Only designated users have access to the These color settings apply to choice. If you do not have that user entitlement, any changes made are personal, for Only Me.

These color settings apply to is preset to Only me. Leave it that way if this is to be a personal color choice. Or, select Everyone to make this a public, globally-available change.

  1. Make sure you have the right list type selected.

The List Type field should be set to the item you just selected in the Colors dialog. You can click the drop down arrow to select another list type if needed.

  1. Note the default or current color settings.

All listed items here appear in the highlight color (if any) used on Worldox lists.

  1. To change a single item color:

Double-click an item on the list.

       If you double-click one of the two "highlight" listings, that opens the Color dialog. In the Color dialog, select a new color or modify the current setting as needed, then click OK.

       Clicking other listings opens the Adjust Colors - line shading dialog. Customize color and graduated fill (fade) in that dialog, then click OK.

  1. Review the color change.

Back in the Set Colors dialog, the list item color changes as you just specified.

       To save this change, click OK.

       Or, to restore the default color setting for that item, make sure the item is selected in the Item field at the top of the dialog,l then click Undefine to the right of that field.

  1. Back in the Colors dialog, click Close to close.

Copying, pasting colors

You can also copy and paste colors in this dialog, either from one list type to another, or from one list item to another.

  1. Click the drop down arrow to select a list from the List Type field, or a list item from the List Item field.

  2. Click Copy to the right of that field.

  3. Select another list or list item in the same field, then click Paste to the right of the field.

OPTION 3:  In the Adjust Colors dialog:

  1. Determine who will see this changed color (optional).

  1. Select a color.

The Default Color choice is pre-selected. You may also see a percentage listed here. Use the slider on this line to change that percentage as needed.

  1. Click the Click to select from color chart button. That opens the Color dialog.

  2. In the Color dialog, select a new color or modify the current setting as needed, then click OK.

As a color is selected, the Style bars shown below change to reflect your choice.

  1. Select a style.

The five style choices allow you to define the new color either as a solid color, or as a graduated fill color (fade). Just click any option to see how your selected color looks in that style.

Click Apply if you want to test this change on the Worldox screen visible behind this dialog, then click OK when you are ready to save the change.

  1. Back in the Colors dialog, click Close to close.
