In July of 2012, several versioning-related changes were made to GX3. If you purchased or updated GX3 after that date, note that versioning is no longer preference-controlled. You can change how versioning works if that is necessary, by adding application-specific hooks in one of two INI files. Details of these GX3 versioning changes are here.
Note: If you purchased GX3 before July 19, 2012 - and have not yet run WDUPDATE - then versioning in your copy is still controlled by preference settings. If you have questions on how versioning operates at your site - or on GX3 changes in versioning administration - please contact Technical Support.
To view the current preference setting:
In the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog:
The settings controlling the availability of versioning are in the Version Control category. Click that category in the left-side pane to see the two versioning preferences in the right-side pane:
• Enable versioning
• Enable sub-versions
Note the two columns furthest to the right - Value and Default. Default lists the starting preference settings. Value shows the current value.
Note: It is possible to see an equal value - Yes, for example - in both the Value and Default columns. That can happen depending on how choices are made in Change Value dialogs, used to set preferences.
Note: See How Versioning Works for detailed descriptions of how each preference option affects versioning at your site.
Find the preference you want to change (as instructed above.) Double-click that listing to open the Change Value dialog.
In the Change Value dialog:
Set or reset the preference.
Most preferences are Yes/No choices:
• Select Yes or No as appropriate.
• Or, if you remember the default value and want to reset the preference to that default, select Rely on Default Setting.
• Other preferences can be numbers or other values. Enter the choice you want, or select it from the drop-down field.
Click OK to make the change.
Changed preferences typically take effect immediately, as soon as the Change Value dialog closes. If you do not see the expected changes, select About Worldox from the Help pull-down menu. When the About dialog appears, press CTRL + D. Then click Close on the Debug dialog. That reloads Worldox configuration files.
