Most Worldox users never have to use any Worldox files except for the main application program. If you do - or are curious about Worldox resources - here are some of the main players:

In the shared WORLDOX program folder

Worldox GX4 consists of three principal program components:

WBGX.exe

This is the main application used to manage documents.

Note: In versions before the GX2 Productivity Suite, this file was called wda.exe.

Worldox

WDMIRROR.exe

This is the name of the executable file used to run Worldox in mirrored mode on your desktop. There are two types of mirroring in Worldox: program MirroringThere are two types of mirroring in Worldox: program mirroring and document mirroring. With program mirroring, Worldox program and related files (configuration settings, field tables, et al.) are synchronized with the workstation when Worldox loads. Mirroring ensures that individual workstations are up-to-date with the latest code, templates and other required files. This in effect automatically updates Worldox on the workstation with each successive login. Document mirroring copies each document to the workstation, in the background, as users open or save files. With document mirroring, you can synchronize documents from a disconnected workstation or laptop when that machine re-connects with the server. These mirroring schemes are used to ensure that users can work from their workstations without difficulty, even if the network is unavailable. and document mirroring.

Worldox Administration Program (WDADMIN)

WDADMIN.exe

Worldox Administrators use WDADMIN to set up, configure, and maintain Worldox.

Worldox Indexer

WDINDEX.exe or WBINDEX.exe

The Indexer creates and maintains the central Worldox database, or index. This program runs continually in server mode on the Worldox Indexer workstation, updating the database as users work with documents.

Note: In GX2, this file was called WAINDEX.exe.

EXE names can change version to version. However, using standard best practice shortcuts avoids any problems as they use launchers that do not change. Thus to run the main Worldox application program, run WDMIRROR.exe

      Example: C:\worldox\wdmirror.exe

Your Worldox Administrator will no doubt arrange the necessary shortcuts and links to start any Worldox application files you need.

Several supporting programs are also part of the Worldox program suite. These are used by Worldox Administrators in working with Worldox, and to manage Worldox-maintained files:

WDINFO is a real-time system-monitoring utility that keeps Worldox Administrators informed as to the state of the Worldox system. WDINFO has been redesigned and enhanced for GX3.

WDCopy

WDCopy.exe

WDCopy is a utility program used by Worldox to send documents to external programs such as PDF conversion software.

WDUpdate

WDUpdate.exe

WDUpdate is a utility program introduced in the GX upgrade. It is used by Worldox Administrators to download and install program updates and service releases.

WDExport

WDExport.exe

WDExport is a utility program used to export document profile information from Worldox.

WDXlat

WDXlat.exe

WDXlat is a utility program that converts documents between various formats - typically used when converting from a different document management system.
