Simple text searches have long been available within Worldox Viewer windows. Now in GX2, there are several new text search options available. These include a way to select words or phrases in the Viewer window and use it to search entire profile groups - outside the Viewer window itself - plus several pre-formatted wild-card choices for searching within the Viewer.
Simple text searching was (and is) available in Viewer windows via the Search > Text dialog. Worldox users can also copy words or phrases within the Viewer window, and paste it to the Windows clipboard for additional search options outside the window itself. (This choice is available via a right-click menu listing.)
Now Worldox GX2 brings several useful enhancements to Viewer window text searching:
• The ability to use selected words or phrases from Viewer text to search outside the window, for other documents in the current document profile group, or in all profile groups at your site.
• The addition of one-click, pre-formatted wildcard searching within Viewer windows.
New right-click menu choices for single-word or short-phrase text searches
Just highlight a single word or short text phrase within the Viewer window, and right-click to see these choices.
The first change you'll notice on this right-click menu - assuming the highlighted selection is no more than 60 characters long - is in the first, "Copy to clipboard" choice. This now includes the selected text within the menu listing.
Below that (once again assuming a short enough text selection in the Viewer window), are four new menu choices.
• The first two menu choices relate to text searching within with window. Click either Search this file ... listing to see a submenu. Here you see that same selected text pre formatted for several variations on wild-card searching:

• The next two menu choices enable text searching outside the Viewer - using selected text to search through other documents within the current document's profile group or in all shared profile groups. Click Search Profile Group ... or Search all shared Profile Groups ... to see a minimal submenu, this one offering no wildcard choices:
What about searching for longer text passages?
If you select any phrase longer than 60 characters in the Viewer window, then right-click, you see the same right-click menu that had been available in GX previously. Your only right-click option is to copy that selected text into the Windows clipboard.
