Accessing WDInfo

Related Topics

WDInfo can run from any workstation on your network. In order to receive the most accurate reporting possible, make sure that the workstation running WDInfo is mapped consistently with other workstations running Worldox. In other words, it should be mapped to the same drives using the same drive letters as any Worldox user sees. If you have drives referenced by UNC names only, WDInfo reports on these as well.

Starting WDInfo

To create a desktop shortcut for WDInfo, use the following syntax:

[network program file path]wdinfo.exe

This uses the standard Worldox mirroring process, copying necessary program files from the network to your local hard drive, and running the software on the local workstation.

If for any reason you want to run directly – not mirrored – use this syntax instead:

[network program file path]wdinfo.exe /Run

Note: Make sure there is an empty character space after “.exe”

When WDInfo loads, a WDInfo icon appears in the Windows system tray zone.

Tip: World Software recommends that you place WDInfo in the Startup Group so it is available at your workstation whenever you run Windows. Make sure it appears before the Worldox shortcut.

The WDInfo System Tray Icon

The WDInfo icon looks like the Worldox icon in the Windows system tray zone, as shown in the figure below. With both Worldox and WDinfo running, you see two Worldox globe icons in the system tray.

To display the WDInfo screen from the icon, simply double-click it (using the left mouse button).

Tip: The WDInfo program icon appears in the Windows system tray as a green Worldox globe.
