WORLDOX 2002 SR-1 (version 9.20) is a maintenance release that
includes numerous fixes, several program enhancements, and some
new features
and
capabilities. The principal new capability SR-1 introduces is
improved support for Workshare's DeltaView® document
comparison software. New features include:
- Enhanced support for Workshare's
DeltaView
product through version 2.81.
- New Send To integration capabilities, including PDF document
conversion (current version works with pdf995 and pdfFactory and
pdfFactory Pro.)
- Customizable alternating
color highlights in WORLDOX display windows.
- Improved method for copying WORLDOX tables to the desktop.
Instructions for acquiring and installing SR-1 have been e-mailed
to all current WORLDOX Maintenance customers. If you have not received
this e-mail
message, then please contact World Software Technical Support at
support@worldox.com. This
update notification describes the major new
enhancements and features and lists the various program
fixes for SR-1.
 Program Enhancements and New Features
Updated DeltaView Integration
With SR-1 WORLDOX 2002 is now fully integrated with the latest
versions of DeltaView (versions 2.72 and
2.81). WORLDOX recognizes when DeltaView is
installed on a workstation and automatically
sets the parameters necessary to integrate the two products.
Note that you may need to start, exit, and restart WORLDOX
for the changes to be recognized.
WORLDOX users can select
two
files,
or two versions of a document, and send
them
to
be compared in DeltaView
directly
from WORLDOX. Alternatively, users can browse for files from
DeltaView using WORLDOX.

When you save save comparison
documents from DeltaView, the WORLDOX profile is filled in
automatically, based on either the “original” or
the modified document and WORLDOX can relate the comparison
to that document using the WORLDOX 2002 Related Documents feature.
Please see WORLDOX 2002-DeltaView
Integration for instructions
on working with WORLDOX and DeltaView.
PDF Conversion Integration
The way that WORLDOX integrates with applications via the Send
To command has been enhanced in SR-1. For
example, you can send files
to
PDF conversion
programs
directly
from
the
WORLDOX
file
list
. Use the Send To command, available from the right-mouse-click menu. SR-1
includes Send To integration for pdfFactory and pdf995,
two conversion utilities that convert documents to Adobe PDF format.
pdf995 will convert a file to PDF and save it to a default location.
pdfFactory, on the other hand, offers several more integration
options with WORLDOX, as indicated in the following figure.

WORLDOX provides a series of options
for pdfFactory, enabling you to send files directly from
WORLDOX for immediate conversion
to
PDF and then send the PDF file as an e-mail attachment, or open
the document in your preferred PDF program.

Converting a file from WORLDOX with pdf995 offers the single
option of printing to PDF.
The following additional programs are required in order for WORLDOX
to provide Print to PDF functionality:
- You must have Microsoft Word installed on the workstation.
- You must have either pdf995 or pdfFactory (standard
or Pro) installed on the workstation. Note that these products
must be purchased
separately from their respective publishers. These are the programs
that perform the PDF conversion, and each requires Word.
After the conversion is complete, pdfFactory provides the option
of using WORLDOX to profile the resulting PDF file. pdf995 places
the resulting PDF in a default location (My Documents). See WORLDOX
- pdfFactory Integration for full details.
Currently, WORLDOX integrates with pdf995 and pdfFactory; please
contact us at support@worldox.com to
tell us what other PDF conversion utilities you would like us to
integrate with.

Color Controls: Alternating Color Highlights in WORLDOX Display
Windows
WORLDOX 2002 now allows you to customize the color scheme
of the following WORLDOX display windows:
- File Lists
- Field Tables
- Libraries
- Profile Groups
- Relations
- Versions
- Audit Trail
- E-mail Folders
- E-mail Messages
The main purpose of this new feature is to set alternating
lines to contrasting background colors in the display so that
it is easier to read the information on the screen. In addition
to
controlling the background colors for display text, you can
set the following:
- Window background color
- Display text color
- Comments text color

The default, once SR-1 is installed, is to provide an alternating
gray and white highlight color for text in the file list. Please
see WORLDOX 2002
Color Controls for complete instructions
on working with the new WORLDOX color control capabilities.
Background Table Updates on the Local Workstation
Prior to SR-1 all versions of WORLDOX had updated field
tables to the workstation (C:\WORLDOX) when either WORLDOX
or the
workstation was shut down. With very large tables, this could
have been time consuming. It also could have lead to problems
with Windows XP, which shuts down the workstation by immediately
cutting
the network connection that WORLDOX requires for the table
update.
SR-1 introduces background updating of local field tables,
which uses the workstation's idle time to update the tables
incrementally.

Quick Access Labeling
The WORLDOX Quick Access line identifies
the contents of the file list. The new default content description
has progressed from strict folder-based labeling, to a friendlier,
more
descriptive Client/Matter format.

As shown in the illustration above, the full path has been
replaced with a more descriptive format.
Please see Quick Access Labeling for instructions on setting
the Preference that controls this display option.
Status Bar Customization
The information in the WORLDOX Status Bar
can now be customized. You can define
the contents of the status bar with a File List Preference
setting using
the same syntax as for defining document stamps. (For a complete
description of WORLDOX document stamping syntax, please see
the WORLDOX
Administration Guide.)

Please see Customizing the
Status Bar for more information.

Default Find Template Selection Option
Users may now specify a default Find template to override <Your
last file find request>. Use the Default Template Preference
under Find Files Options to specify the template to use.
