I. INTRODUCTION
World Software Corporation®
WORLDOX®
"Enterprise Document Manager®"
Since 1988, World Software Corporation has been building document
management type software exclusively. Our newest products, WORLDOX
2002 and WORLDOX/Web 2, are now in beta test and scheduled
to ship in the third quarter of 2002. WORLDOX 2002 and WORLDOX/Web
2 are our thirteenth and fourteenth products in fourteen years. WORLDOX
2002 is a strategic upgrade in our product emphasis, as it is our
first product that incorporates industrial strength e-mail management.
WORLDOX/Web 2 is also a strategic product which emphasizes extranet
and portal technology. All our previous products are upward compatible
to WORLDOX 2002 and WORLDOX/Web 2.
World Software's goals are:
Our Tactical Goal is to make WORLDOX the #1 Document Management System
("DMS") in the Legal Vertical Market. Our Strategic Goal
is to expand WORLDOX to become the #1 Document and Object Management
System in all Markets. Our Visionary Goal is to place WORLDOX's functionality
on most of the PCs in the world.
We are a very different company than many other software companies
as our focus is not primarily on technology, but is on the End-User.
We believe technology, or how it's done, should be transparent to
the End-User. Our philosophy is that software must work (be "bullet
proof") and work the way the end-user wants it to work. It must
be fast, very easy in all aspects, and have the lowest Total Cost
of Ownership. Our software complements the Operating System and Primary
Applications by embracing, enhancing and extending their native capabilities,
e.g., WORLDOX has been called Windows Explorer "On Steroids."
As required, WORLDOX will supplant the primary application's functions
wherein we can provide a better End-User solution.
A Document Management System decision is one you'll live with for
three to seven years or more. Since it is a long term decision and
a mission-critical application, it should be thoroughly evaluated
by the customer and not defaulted or "outsourced" to a third
party. We believe that document management systems buyers and interested
parties should be serious about their DMS decision. They should spend
time reading this White Paper, THINK about the differences between
us and our competitors and why we believe we are better than our competitors;
call our customers' references; and "Test Drive" WORLDOX.
Then they'll make a truly informed decision we both can live with
for the next "X" years.
In the marketplace, the pendulum has swung as far as it can toward
technology such as Client/Server, Open Systems, and Three-Tier Technology.
Now, its direction is reversing, and it is heading toward the customer
or End-User. In their own words, End Users want simple and obvious
things like software that should "WORK", be EASY
to Use - Support - Maintain; be SIMPLE, and AFFORDABLE.
These are some of the characteristics of "the Internet model"
or paradigm which we at World Software have been practicing since
our beginning in 1988. Thus, we believe these attributes, deeply embedded
in our culture, and desired, and more and more expected by customers
and prospects, are real and long-term ones whose time has come. As
these attributes will characterize the future of computing, we believe
our performance, based on these attributes, will elevate World Software
Corporation to a global presence.
While we will focus primarily on WORLDOX and World Software's point
of view in this White Paper, reality and relevancy demands we compare
and contrast ourselves with our primary competitors. The reader will
find many differences between us and our competitors and will learn
that WORLDOX does essentially what they do, costs much less, is less
complicated, and, does it better than they do it.
