Window styles vs. column templates

Window styles:

Are singular, meaning there can only be one saved style for a given list type. Note the eight Per list types on the Display > Window Styles > Open dialog:

Any styles saved for the Search Results list type, for example, are automatically used to format ALL lists of search results. If you make changes to a list, then re-save styles for the Search Results list type, those changes then apply to ALL such lists. You cannot create multiple window styles for any one list type. Each changed style replaces the last.

Can include any combination of styles (categories of display settings). Note the Load Styles choices shown above. If you open the Tags document tab on a worklist, then check the Selected bottom tab style as part of creating or changing a window style, all lists of the specified type will open with the Tags tab opened automatically.

You don't have to include all four style categories in a saved windows style. If you leave that Selected bottom tab style unchecked, Worldox disregards document tab settings in applying the saved style.

Column templates

Where window styles are singular and apply only to specific list types, there can be many column templates created, and these can be applied to any worklist:

Saving a column template saves only  worklist-related settings- columns visible, column widths and order left to right, sorts. Other screen elements - which document tab is open under a list, for example, or how the navigation panel is configured - are not considered.

In fact, column template settings correspond to the Columns and sort category listed on the Display > Window Styles > Open dialog.

You can save several - many column templates.

Column templates are not specific to any one list type. You can apply any saved column template to any worklist.
