Home list

When you start Worldox, it opens to a pre-selected starting list - the worklist or folder location chosen as a logical starting place when the application was originally installed at your site. This starting place  is called the Home list. To return to this starting place, just click in the toolbar.

Note:  In the earliest GX2 version of Worldox and before, the pre-selected starting list was referred to that way - as the starting list - and was accessed/changed through a different dialog.

Return to the default (original) Home list setting

View or change the Home list

  1. Select Home Location from the Edit pull-down menu. That opens the Edit > Home Location dialog.

  2. In the Edit > Home Location dialog, button labels indicate the current Home setting:

The left-side button - in this example called Folder - indicates the current choice (Blank page, Favorites or Folder). So in this example, the home list is a folder location, not a blank page or favorites list.

The next button indicates which Favorites or folder location was selected, if Home list is not set to blank page.

In the example shown above, the Home list is a Folder, Real Property/00012/0005.

  1. To change the Home list, click the left-side button. That opens a second Edit > Home Location dialog.

  2. In this second Edit > Home Location dialog, select the destination type:

Select Blank page to see an empty worklist as Worldox starts.

Select Favorite Files to see a worklist of selected favorites as Worldox starts.

Select Folder to choose a see the contents of a specific folder as Worldox starts.

Then click Next or OK.

  1. Next steps:

If you selected Blank Page, you again see the first Edit > Home Location dialog. (Continue on to Step 6 below.)

If you selected Favorites Files, the List > Selected Favorite Files dialog opens. Select one or more categories of Favorites to include on the Home list, then click Select. As the dialog closes, you again see the first Edit > Home Location dialog. (Continue on to Step 6 below.)

If you selected Folder, you see a third Edit > Home Location dialog - this one being a profile form. Just follow instructions below on Filling out the Edit > Home Location form.

  1. In the first Edit > Home Location dialog, click the Every time checkbox if you want this choice to be your Home list each time Worldox starts.

Note:  If this checkbox is not selected, your choice becomes the Home list only once, when Worldox next starts. After that, the Home list would be whatever worklist was visible as the application last closed.

  1. You can set home list settings for your workstation (the Personal setting), also starting lists for all users at your site (Everyone) if you are a Worldox Administrator or Manager.

  2. Save your changes.

To see the selected Home list before saving this change, click Apply.

Otherwise, you go straight to the Edit > Home Location form.

On the Edit > Home Location form

That opens the Select Profile Group dialog, where you can choose another. If you do change the profile group, the Edit > Home Location dialog reloads to display profile fields associated with the selected group.

Do this:

Enter a code or value.

See Working with field tables for details on selecting and searching within field table dialogs.

Colored prompts appear to the right of profile fields. Worldox points out required fields, and checks each entry. Valid choices appear in another color, and invalid or unknown entries are flagged. Here valid choices display in green, while unknown entries and prompts display in red. (You could also see information prompts in a third color, not shown here.)

Tip:  Field prompt colors, as with so many other display options in Worldox, can be customized to your taste.

  1. Select a repository (optional).

Depending on your access rights - also on the profile group structure in use at your site - you may have and additional choice here. At the bottom left of the dialog you could see a row of choices. These correspond to repositories enabled for the selected profile group. Be sure to choose the right one.

Active is pre-selected. Choose any other to access files in that repository instead.
